Create Hong Kong Provides Sponsorship for CASBAA Convention 2013

HONG KONG, Oct 17, 2013 - (ACN Newswire) - Create Hong Kong (CreateHK) of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) Government has continued to support the CASBAA Convention under the CreateSmart Initiative (CSI) this year. It has been the fourth consecutive year for CreateHK to be the Leading Sponsor of CASBAA Convention by providing free tickets for Hong Kong SMEs and students as part of their Community Outreach Programme.

Since 2010, this free ticket sponsorship arrangement allows students from local universities enrolled in relevant courses, and designated SMEs to participate in the Convention to learn more about the multichannel TV industry and to network with established companies and executives from across the region. In the past three years, over 300 students and SMEs have benefitted under the sponsorship.

"The TV sector is one of the components of our creative industries. As the dedicated office to spearhead the development of local creative industries, CreateHK is pleased to sponsor the Community Outreach Programme again, with a view to providing more opportunities for our SMEs and students to learn the latest industry trends and meet with key industry players," said Mr Jerry Liu, Head of CreateHK.

"CASBAA greatly appreciates the continued support shown by CreateHK and believes that Hong Kong and its creative industries are at the forefront of innovation in the broadcast sector," said Christopher Slaughter, CEO, CASBAA. "The CASBAA Convention 2013 aims to bring together key players from Asia and around the world to help facilitate the future growth of the city's multichannel TV sector and associated industries."

CreateHK provides financial support to projects that are conducive to the development of creative industries in Hong Kong through its HK$600 million CSI. Other projects and activities sponsored by the CSI include internship and graduate trainee programmes; opportunities for SMEs and creative talents to participate in overseas exhibitions and competitions; online and mobile platforms for creative industries; and signature events to promotion Hong Kong as Asia's creative capital.
