Vietnam Manufacturers Source for New Technologies at MTA VIETNAM2014

HO CHI MINH CITY, VIETNAM, July 18, 2014 - (ACN Newswire) - MTA VIETNAM2014, the country's premier trade event to source for manufacturing solutions and to gather latest industry and technical knowledge, drew to a close last Friday after four days of activity at the Saigon Exhibition & Convention Center (SECC).

Well attended by both local and foreign firms based in Vietnam, the show saw a total of 11,159 trade attendees comprising trade visitors, exhibiting staff, seminar speakers and delegates, competition participants and members of the press. Among them include 295 group delegations from Ba Ria - Vung Tau, Bac Lieu, Binh Duong, Dong Nai, Da Nang, Dong Thap, Ho Chi Minh City, Long An and Soc Trang.

"We see increasing support from all relevant manufacturing industries as group visitors from factories have almost doubled - from 163 groups last year to a high of 295 groups. This corresponds with the industry's investment needs as official statistics from Ho Chi Minh Department of planning has showed a significant increase in foreign direct investment into Southern Vietnam over the last year," said Mr. Tee Boon Teong, Deputy Chief Representative, Singapore Exhibition Services' Representative Office in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam, organiser of MTA VIETNAM2014.

Exhibitors received keen interest for new technologies showcased

With 289 exhibitors from 19 countries/regions, MTA VIETNAM's international exhibitors brought with them a multitude of "New-in-Vietnam" manufacturing solutions to keep with the country's growing market and developing capabilities moving forward.

"As Vietnam has moved towards the production of high quality and competitive products for both domestic and international markets, factories here are embracing advanced technology. MTA VIETNAM - as the key technology platform in Vietnam - plays an important role in this. At MTA VIETNA2014, TRUMPF showcased our TruLaser 1030 Fibre for the first time to the Vietnamese manufacturing sector. I am very pleased that the industry recognises our strong technology. The quality of the enquiries we have received has been excellent," said Dr. Hans-Peter Laubscher, Managing Director Asia Pacific, TRUMPF.

Similarly, Yamazaki Mazak Vietnam's machine showcase saw much interest from visitors. Mr. Ricky Hwa, its General Director said, "MTA Vietnam addresses the changing and demanding production needs of the manufacturing sector in Vietnam. Mazak showcased our very new OPTIPLEX 3015 Fibre II - a fibre laser machine that performs superior high-speed cutting and increases productivity by more than 30 per cent. We are happy with the excellent contacts from the construction and furniture-making sectors that we have received for this machine at the show."

With echoing sentiments, Mr. Daniel Nauer, Senior Vice President, Market Division, Asia and Australia, Bystronic, a veteran exhibitor said, "We have been exhibiting in MTA Vietnam for many years now as this show has become an important technology platform for the industry. We chose MTA VIETNAM2014 to launch our very new BySun Fiber 3015 laser cutting machine, and have received good enquiries as the Vietnam manufacturing community recognises our strong branding and high level of technology."

"Vietnam's manufacturing landscape is an ever-changing one as it moves towards production of high value products. The technologies on display on the show floor address this trend. DMG MORI chose this show to introduce the DMC 650 V to Southeast Asia which will serve the users' demanding needs in pushing production to a new level. We got good enquiries from the visitors at the show," added Dr. Christian Braun, Managing Director, DMG MORI South East Asia.

The event's metrology showcase was also well received, Mr. Taveesak Srisuntisuk, Managing Director of Hexagon Metrology Asia Pacific said, "Vietnam's industry has progressed tremendously over the years and production standards have certainly increased. The high accuracy of the coordinate measuring machines by Hexagon Metrology will serve this demand very well. MTA VIETNAM is a showcase of high level technology and we are very pleased to be a part of this international show with our latest test and measurement systems. We have received very strong interests in our products from the Vietnamese companies that visited this show."

A platform for knowledge sharing and skills development

Seminars held over four days brought together industry thought leaders to address pertinent issues and share best practices with professionals in the manufacturing sector. The seminars organised by Multi Engineering Solutions Laboratory (MESLAB), Vietnam Welding Society (VWS) in conjunction with the Vietnam Thermal Association and Vietnam Association of Testing Laboratories (VINALAB) were well attended by more than 200 participants.

MTA VIETNAM concluded with the second edition of the welding skills competition. From a diverse competition pool of professional welders, the team from Southern Maritime Mechanical Company merged victorious, with Petrolimex Vietnam coming in a close second.

Mr. Bui Dinh Thuy, Vice Director of Southern Maritime Mechanical Company, said, "I am very happy and satisfied with the results. This is a meaningful contest that builds bridges for businesses to come closer; creates a useful playground for those in mechanical trade, and is a good place for those in the welding industry to display their skills."

Impressed visitors at MTA VIETNAM2014

From the comprehensive showcase by international brands, to the insightful seminars and exciting competition, visitors to MTA VIETNAM2014 continue to hold the event in high regard.

Mr. Nguyen Nhu Trung, Chief of Technical Department, Juki Vietnam said, "Juki Vietnam is a repeated visitor to MTA VIETNAM. We see that the exhibition is diversified and has many machines that are suitable to our business. We usually purchase machines and equipment from Japan and came to source for CNC machines from USA. We will come back to the next show."

"MTA VIETNAM is a must-attend event of our company. We came to source for grinding stones and welding machines, and found many suppliers whose products are suitable to our manufacturing such as Hydro - tek (compressing equipment) and Guhring. We also made many new contacts from the exhibition. We will definitely be back for the next edition," added Mr. Le Nguyen Hoa, Purchasing Manager from An Lac Car Mechanics Factory.

"As more export based industries set up their operations here, engineering and productivity requirements will increase and we hope MTA VIETNAM will continue to play a supporting role in bringing technology buyers and suppliers together in a vibrant marketplace for Vietnam and beyond. We plan to include more training programs in conjunction with the exhibition at the next event to further cater for re-tooling, and re-thinking (innovation) needs of the local industry," concluded Mr. Tee.

The next edition of MTA VIETNAM will be held from 7-10 July 2015.
