| Industry Leader in FTTx access solutions shows global growth, with more than 450 MXK deployments reported |
Oakland, CA, July 25, 2014 - (ACN Newswire) - Zhone Technologies, Inc. (NASDAQ: ZHNE), a global leader in fiber network access solutions (FTTx), continues to demonstrate global growth and expansion for its industry leading MXK, surpassing more than 6,700 system deployments with more than 150 service providers around the globe. Additionally, Zhone continued to see a rise in the number of FiberLAN Passive Optical LAN deployments.
Showcasing sustained market leadership, last quarter Zhone shipped more than 183,000 zNID Optical Network Terminals (ONTs), achieving a new company record. The rise in deployments is a direct result of an increased need for accessible and reliable broadband services. In fact, according to a report by Telegeography, the demand for international bandwidth grew 39 percent to 138 TeraBytes per second (Tbps) in 2013. In 2009, only 30 Tbps of bandwidth was used globally, representing a substantial increase in the last few years.
