Four Concurrent HKTDC Fairs Open Mid-August
Food, Home Appliances, Tea, Chinese Medicine on Show

HONG KONG, July 30, 2015 - (ACN Newswire) - More than 1,600 exhibitors are set to participate in four parallel events organised by the Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC) next month, with lifestyle and health-related products and activities taking centre stage.

Four Concurrent HKTDC Fairs Open Mid-August

The HKTDC Food Expo and HKTDC Home Delights Expo open on 13 August and continue through 17 August at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre (HKCEC). Meanwhile, the HKTDC Hong Kong International Tea Fair, and International Conference & Exhibition of the Modernization of Chinese Medicine & Health Products (ICMCM) run through 13-15 August, also at the HKCEC.

In addition to providing a trade platform for new products and services, the events will also appeal to the general public with celebrities and experts lined up to share their expertise through cooking demonstrations, health seminars and business forums.

Food Expo: a global fiesta

The 26th edition of the Food Expo will showcase more than 1,100 exhibitors from over 20 countries and regions. The Expo is divided into three sections, including the Public Hall (13-17 August), the Gourmet Zone (13-16 August) and the Trade Hall (13-15 August). Mouth-watering offerings at the Food Expo range from luxurious Wagyu beef and Marzen beer to hybrid cucumbers and Disney moon cakes.

A highlight of the Public Hall area will be the Premium Food Zone, which features an array of popular local brands from Hong Kong. The Public Hall will also present a global banquet through the presence of seven international pavilions from Canada, the Chinese mainland, Japan, Korea, Malaysia, the Philippines and Taiwan. Meanwhile, the Gourmet Zone will showcase high-end delicacies under four themes: Western Delicacy, Asian Cuisine, Chic & More, and Sweet Delight.

The Trade Hall will explore business opportunities for trade buyers on the first two days of the fair, before opening its doors to public ticket-holders on 15 August. There are 14 group pavilions coming from gastronomically diverse countries such as Australia, Iran, Italy and Japan, while Ukraine will host a group pavilion in its first appearance at the expo. New exhibition zones highlighting Food and Agricultural Technology and Halal Food will also make their debut at the fair.

Seminars will examine the newest trends in the food industry, including healthy eating, marketing on the Chinese mainland and more. Besides, the highly popular Night Bazaar will open to public ticket-holders from 7pm to 10pm each evening from 13-16 August, featuring around 60 exhibitors from Food Expo and Home Delights Expo.

Home Delights Expo: creature comforts

Returning for a second year from 13-17 August, the HKTDC Home Delights Expo will feature more than 120 exhibitors and over 190 brands. Parading a wide range of lifestyle products, the event includes two themed zones highlighting Electrical Appliances and Household Products. A new premium zone, Avenue of Delights will also be launched to showcase more than 60 popular brands. Visitors can watch professional chefs prepare dishes ranging from street food to vegetable art at daily cooking demonstrations, while a popular Smart Bidding Game will be held daily from 13-16 August.

Tea Fair: an infusion of flavours

Running through 13-15 August, the seventh edition of the Hong Kong International Tea Fair blends flavours from around the world. Altogether more than 230 exhibitors from 12 countries and regions will join the fair, with exhibitors coming from prominent tea-producing countries such as the Chinese mainland, India, Japan and Sri Lanka. This year's fair includes 15 group pavilions, including debut pavilions from the mainland province of Jiangxi and the Japan External Trade Organization.

The Tea Fair also presents a testing ground for world-class teas to make their mark. Among the tea promotion activities is the new Tea Cup Warming event. There will also be award-winning tea tastings and award presentations for the International Tea Competition 2015 and the International KamCha Competition 2015, for the best Hong Kong Style Milk Tea. Other Tea Fair highlights include seminars at the Tea Forum on 15 August, featuring prominent speakers such as renowned Chinese medicine practitioner and author Dr Jenny Yeung Ming Ha, IDG Concept Brand Designer Mr Tommy Ng and Tea Master Mr Ip Wing Chi. Various tea tastings and tea art performances by Japanese and Chinese experts will also be held.

ICMCM: modern medicine

Co-organised by the HKTDC and the Modernized Chinese Medicine International Association Ltd, this year's ICMCM features more than 110 exhibitors from nine countries and regions. Demonstrating the international appeal of Traditional Chinese Medicine, exhibitors from as far afield as France and the United States will join the fair, alongside a strong contingent from East Asia.

A two-day heavyweight ICMCM Conference (13-14 Aug) discussing "CM Research & Commercialization on Cardiovascular Diseases" will provide a platform for experts to share their insights on the subject. Meanwhile, Hong Kong Baptist University is the co-organiser of the 11th International Postgraduate Symposium on Chinese Medicine (14 Aug). Complementing these events will be an Exhibitor Forum featuring new products and services as well as a seminar on testing and certification procedures for Chinese medicine.

Public ticket-holders are invited to attend the ICMCM's Chinese Medicine Health Public Forum on 15 August while, throughout the day, events are organised to highlight various aspects of Traditional Chinese Medicine as well as some of the latest products in the market.
