Hong Kong Healthcare Association of Ageing Offers Free Lower Cholesterol Program
Including a Free Lipid Profile Cholesterol Test to all Hong Kong Citizen

HONG KONG, June 27, 2016 - (ACN Newswire) - Heart disease is a common leading cause of death. Hong Kong Healthcare Association of Ageing would follow the official advice and guideline by U.S. Department of Health & Human Services, National Institutes of Health National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute to the US Health Service to offer a free full cholesterol lipid test for the Hong Kong citizen in order to educate and encourage the public to early detect of any potential health risk factors.

Chairman of the Hong Kong Healthcare Association of Ageing Mr. Sit Hing Wah said: "In United States, more than 5 years old or obese children suffering from type I or type II diabetes, and all adults over the age of 20 will need regular check up of blood cholesterol in order to monitor and reduce the potential suffering of future heart disease. High blood cholesterol can affect anyone. It is a serious condition that increases the risk for heart disease, the number one killer of Americans-women and men. If there is too much cholesterol in the blood, some of the excess can become trapped in artery walls. Over time, this builds up and is called plaque. The plaque can narrow vessels and make them less flexible, a condition called atherosclerosis or "hardening of the arteries". The higher your blood cholesterol level, the greater your risk.

Usually affecting young patients with no obvious symptoms of cardiovascular disease, so regular cholesterol testing is very important especially for those having family history of cardiovascular disease, stroke or heart disease, should be checked and monitored. "Full lipid profile cholesterol test" is a simple check, we will use one of the most advance LipidPro cholesterol measuring device which has registered and approved in November 2014 in Europe. As little as 3 drops of 5ul blood volume and only takes two minutes, you will then know your Total Cholesterol, Triglyceride, High Density Lipoprotein (HDL) good cholesterol and calculated Low Density Lipoprotein (LDL) bad cholesterol levels".

Application is started from today

Full lipid profile cholesterol test usually takes few days to one week to get the results, and the costs would be charged around HK$ 400-800 in different private sectors in Hong Kong. Fortunately, if you have high blood cholesterol, there are steps you can take to lower it and protect your health. Hong Kong Healthcare Association of Ageing will advise you to follow a 3-6 weeks lifestyle changing program for reducing high blood cholesterol that would be focus on diet change, physical activity and weight management. Sometimes, drug treatment also is needed to lower blood cholesterol enough.

From now until August 30 2016, interested parties in Hong Kong from 5-105 years old can go online to submit your application. Offer is limited and priorities would be reserved to those applicants having comparatively higher heart disease risk factors first.

Successful applicants will receive a confirmation letter with the specified date written and within a specified time, the successful applicants can go to 5 designated Quality HealthCare Medical Centre or the Hong Kong Healthcare Association of Ageing to do the free cholesterol lipid profile test. If the test result is showing having a high heart disease risk, Hong Kong Healthcare Association of Ageing will provide free 3-6 weeks lower-LDL program for you, including recommendation of diet and lifestyle changes such as smoking cessation, diet tips and provision 2g of plant stanols to successful applicants daily. Program results with real patient case sharing will be released to media in end September 2016 by the Hong Kong Healthcare Association of Ageing.
