CASBAA Brings Hope to 5,657 Children in Masbate, Philippines

HONG KONG, Aug 16, 2010 - (ACN Newswire) - CASBAA today announced its partnership with the global children's charity Plan International to give 5,657 needy children a chance at a better life in Masbate, one of the top 10 poorest provinces in the Philippines.

Hunger, poor health and lack of basic education are the inevitable symptoms of poverty. The ones that suffer most are children. CASBAA's CSR initiative will bring lasting improvement to the lives of pre-school children in Masbate, bringing health care, protection, education and teaching long term life skills.

According to the Philippine government's data, Masbate ranks second to last in the Bicol region of the country on school achievement. CASBAA will support a series of campaigns developed by Plan International, including "Supervised Neighbourhood Play" and "Enhancing Learning Competence and Life Skills" to give these children the chance to learn and grow.

CASBAA is committed to unlock the poverty traps of 5,657 children in Masbate by raising over US$75,000 through auctions, donations and raffle sales at the annual CASBAA Charity Ball, at the Grand Hyatt Hotel in Hong Kong, on October 28th, sponsored by Turner (Presenting Sponsor) and MGM Channel (Bar Sponsor).

"We are very pleased to partner with Plan International. Children represent the future and giving them access to education and nutrition should be of prime concern to all," said Simon Twiston Davies, CEO of CASBAA. "Through leveraging the collective reach and influence of our members in the pay-TV industry, we can make life better for these children in need."

"The partnership between CASBAA and Plan International will help more children in Masbate to equip for growth, and empower them to build a better future for themselves and for the whole community", said James Murray, CEO, Plan International Hong Kong.

CASBAA is inviting members and the community to donate cash and high-value prizes for auction at the annual Charity Ball. Your support will make a difference to these children! For more details, click here or contact the CASBAA Executive Office at 852 2854 9913.
