More than 160 Japanese Exhibitors at this Year's Food Expo |
HONG KONG, Aug 11, 2011 - (ACN Newswire) - The Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC) and the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries of Japan (MAFF) announced today that Japan will be the partner country at HKTDC Food Expo 2012. A cooperation agreement has also been signed between the two parties to encourage more food exports from Japan to Hong Kong.
"Japan is Hong Kong's third-largest trading partner, while Hong Kong is the largest export market for Japanese food," said HKTDC Executive Director Fred Lam. "Japanese food has always been popular among consumers in Hong Kong, the rest of Asia and throughout the world. I am pleased to name Japan as the partner country for HKTDC Food Expo 2012. The expo will offer an excellent platform for promoting Japan's premium food to buyers from all around the world."
The HKTDC and the MAFF agree to organise more activities promoting the food trade between Japan and Hong Kong. The HKTDC will offer its full support, particularly in the areas of marketing and publicity.
Food Expo, which opened today and continues through 15 August, has attracted more than 160 exhibitors from Japan, up nearly 80 per cent over last year. This year's Japan pavilion is the largest ever at Food Expo.
