NEW YORK, Jan 5, 2012 - (ACN Newswire) - Minerals Technologies Inc. (NYSE: MTX), a worldwide manufacturer of minerals products, has launched two new antiblock products for use in plastic film and bag applications.
Specialty Minerals Inc., a wholly owned subsidiary of Minerals Technologies and a leader in mineral additives, has launched Optibloc(R) 8 and Optibloc(R) 325 talc blends, new antiblocking products for high-clarity film and bag applications. Antiblocks are used to prevent the adhesion of two adjacent layers of film, a problem most associated with polyethylene and polypropylene films.
These new products are designed for high-clarity polyethylene film applications such as food packaging and clear bags. OPTIBLOC(R) 8 and OPTIBLOC(R) 325 talc blends have excellent antiblocking efficiency and provide high-clarity with low-haze films. OPTIBLOC(R) 8 antiblock is the next generation of Minerals Technologies' patented OPTIBLOC(R) antiblock product line, which is utilized globally in polyethylene films.
Minerals Technologies Inc. is a global resource- and technology-based growth company that develops, produces and markets worldwide a broad range of specialty mineral, mineral-based and synthetic mineral products and related systems and services. The company recorded sales of $1.0 billion in 2010. For further information about Minerals Technologies Inc. look on the internet at http://www.mineralstech.com/
