MACAU, June 22, 2015 - (ACN Newswire) - PT HM Sampoerna Tbk. (Sampoerna), for its CSR programs umbrella "Sampoerna untuk Indonesia" (Sampoerna for Indonesia), has been awarded the winner under the categories of Social Empowerment and Responsible Business Leader during the Asia Responsible Entrepreneurship Awards (AREA) 2015, a prestigious annual international Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) awards program held by Enterprise Asia in Macau this year.
"This achievement represents not only a recognition but also an encouragement to continue and improve Sampoerna's CSR programs, and we are pleased to have won two prestigious AREA Awards," said Paul Janelle, President Director of PT HM Sampoerna Tbk. All of Sampoerna's contributions and CSR programs are delivered under the program umbrella of 'Sampoerna untuk Indonesia'. The initiatives are focused on four main pillars, namely Access to Education, Economic Opportunity, Empowering Women and Disaster Relief and Preparedness, which also serve as a platform for Sampoerna employees to give back to the communities.

The company has also formed its own Sampoerna Rescue Team in 2002 to carry out humanitarian missions by responding to natural disasters throughout Indonesia.
