Asian opportunities for U.S. companies to be showcased at upcoming trade symposia in NY, LA |
HONG KONG, Apr 25, 2013 - (ACN Newswire) - A United States technology group visiting recent large-scale electronics and ICT trade fairs in Hong Kong were amazed at the opportunities available in the mobile development space and - equally important - surprised at the relatively low cost of doing business in Asia's leading business city.
More than 3,250 exhibitors from 24 countries and 90,000 visitors took part in the HKTDC Hong Kong Electronics Fair (Spring Edition) and the HKTDC International ICT Expo, which ran April 13-16 in Hong Kong.
"I think one of the best things about this trip is that a developer in the United States can actually land here in Hong Kong for probably a fraction of the price they are thinking it would cost them to start doing business throughout Asia," said Pete Erickson, an organizer for MoDev (US Buyers for Mobile Development Community), who visited the fair, adding there are "tangible reasons to come to Hong Kong, set up shop, and do business throughout Asia at a very low risk investment."
"I'm really impressed with what some of the developers are doing here with regards to integration and very forward thinking apps and campaigns," Erickson added. "Very impressive and I look forward to building on those relationships that we've started.
Looking Ahead to Think Asia, Think Hong Kong in the US
The Electronics Fair foreshadows the upcoming "Think Asia, Think Hong Kong," (TATHK), which will feature two major symposia in New York and Los Angeles on June 11 and 14 respectively. TATHK speakers will include The Honourable C.Y. Leung, Chief Executive of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region and more than 100 government officials and senior executives from global companies. TATHK is organized by the Hong Kong Trade Development Council, (HKTDC) with support from 14 Hong Kong partners and close to 100 U.S. supporting organizations.
Of particular interest to the technology industry are sessions in New York and Los Angeles entitled "Hong Kong - a Base for Technology Companies to Grow Their China Business", which will focus on tech-related opportunities for US companies in Asia, and how Hong Kong and its tech-related infrastructure can help. Other TATHK sectors will cover lifestyle products, fashion, food and wine, finance, accounting, legal, logistics and marketing. Business matching sessions with U.S. companies will take place onsite in both New York and LA. The TATHK campaign is expected to attract more than 2,000 American corporate leaders, government representatives, heads of SME's and opinion leaders with a special interest in Asia.
