HONG KONG, Jan 22, 2014 - (ACN Newswire) - Sound Global Ltd. ("Sound Global", or the "Company"; Hong Kong Stock Code: 00967.HK; Singapore Stock Code: E6E) is pleased to announce that it has won the bid for a BOT project to reconstruct and expand a sewage treatment plant at Yamalike Hill, Saybagh District, Urumqi City, Xinjiang.
This project will be invested by Sound Global with an aggregate investment of RMB153 million. After the reconstruction and expansion, the upgraded sewage treatment capacity will be increased to 75,000 m3 per day from the existing designed capacity of 50,000 m3 per day. In addition, a new sewage treatment technology named multi-stage AO technology will be used, enabling the quality of filtrated water to meet the Class I- B standard as set out in the Discharge Standards on Pollutants from Urban Sewage Treatment Plant (GB18918-2002). The completion and operation of the reconstructed and expanded sewage treatment plant will basically satisfy the water required for the forestation of barren Yamalike Hill (hereinafter referred to as 'Yamalike'), and for irrigation of green belts of the residential areas near Yamalike, as well as for cooling process in industrial operation and for future landscaping purpose.

Currently, the green area of Yamalike is about 24,600 mu, but after the forestation of an additional area of 8,000 mu this year, daily irrigation water consumption has reached 70,000 m3 per day. The existing sewage treatment plant still uses outdated treatment process of biological aerated filtration, and limited by its aging equipment and obsolete technology, its actual treatment capacity is slightly more than 40,000 m3 per day, which is incapable to meet the increasing demand of irrigation water. The commencement of this project will provide strong support for the irrigation of Yamalike, play a significant role in improving the local ecosystem as well as reducing urban pollution, thus enabling Yamalike to fulfill its function as the 'green landscape' of Urumqi City."
