SINGAPORE, June 16, 2009 - (ACN Newswire) - The export of public service infocomm will get a greater push with the synergy derived from a Global Business Development Centre of Excellence. A partnership between the Infocomm Development Authority of Singapore (IDA), International Enterprise (IE) Singapore and IDA International, the Centre will accelerate market access and expand the overseas business opportunities for Singapore infocomm companies with the formulation of concerted go-to-market strategies.
The aims of the Centre are to promote Singapore's e-Government capabilities, better capture the value of Singapore's market position as a leader in e-Government, and to help increase Singapore's infocomm export revenue1. The Centre will serve as the central arm to formulate and manage business development process for target markets. Tapping on IDA and IE Singapore's global footprint, and IDA International's expertise in conceptualizing, planning and architecting ICT programmes in partnership with Singapore's infocomm companies, the Centre will map out marketing strategies and tools to market "Made-by-Singapore" public service infocomm solutions, leveraging the Infocomm Singapore brand. These will bring about better synergy in Singapore's infocomm internationalisation efforts.
To enhance Singapore's thought-leadership in e-Government, the Centre will serve as a repository to harness the value of the institutional knowledge and experiences of key exportable e-Government implementation from the past three decades. This will be done by way of case studies of Singapore's public service infocomm projects and experience gleaned from overseas e-Government projects implementation, as well as promoting research into current trends of e-Government.
RADM(NS) Ronnie Tay, CEO of IDA Singapore said, "Singapore has three decades of experience in conceptualising and implementing sector-wide e-Government transformation projects. Given its Government Chief Information Officer role, IDA brings to the partnership valuable experience and domain knowledge in master planning and programme management of Government-wide IT infrastructure and application systems. The Centre is also in line with IDA's industry development efforts, where a comprehensive go-to-market strategy will further the opportunities for Singapore infocomm companies as they access overseas markets."
Mr Chong Lit Cheong, CEO of IE Singapore said, "IE Singapore's global presence in more than 30 locations worldwide, together with our in-depth market knowledge and connections with government authorities and enterprises on the ground, will help to build a global market for the export of Singapore's public service infocomm solutions. We will work closely with our partners to identify overseas business opportunities for Singapore's infocomm companies."
"We continue to see strong interest from different countries to collaborate with us in the area of public service infocomm initiatives. As the execution arm for IDA"s cooperation with foreign governments, we are excited about this initiative as it will help accelerate the growth of Infocomm Singapore solutions in the global space," according to Mr Seah Chin Siong, CEO of IDA International.
In additional to Singapore infocomm companies, the Centre will work with other partners like the Singapore infocomm Technology Federation (SiTF) and overseas counterparts to broaden market access and strengthen its business development capabilities.
"We see this as an excellent opportunity for our local ICT companies to not only be showcased under the Singapore brand, but also as an avenue for further expansion overseas," said Ms Tan Yen Yen, Chairman of SiTF.
* One of Singapore's Intelligent Nation 2015 (iN2015) goals is to realise a three-fold increase in infocomm export revenue to S$60 billion by 2015.
