"Manufacturing Myanmar 2014 is tailored to meet the needs of local industries and manufacturers, which includes good working systems and the correct technical capabilities. The show presents viable options to upgrade existing operations and processes, and I am confident that it will bring new technologies to inspire not only our local SMEs, but the private sector as a whole, helping to generate more business opportunities. Manufacturing Myanmar certainly serves as a baseline to boost the development of partnerships and accelerate the integration of Myanmar's SMEs into global supply chains," comments H.E. U Maung Myint, Union Minister, Ministry of Industry.

Contributing to Myanmar's industrial transformation

Manufacturing Myanmar 2014 provided a launch platform for companies to promote manufacturing technology that enables the local sector to automate operations.

TRUMPH's TruMark 2130, Asia Masima's CNC Vertical Turning Lathe Machine, YG-1's Gold-Drills, Cairnhill Metrology's Surfcom Flex, and Optical Gaging's OGP(R) SmartScope(R) Zip Lite Benchtop System are examples of the display of machines, test and measurement equipment, cutting tools, and automation systems shown at the event. These solutions are designed to help local manufacturers achieve higher productivity, raise standards of manufacturing, play a stronger role in the acceleration of the country's industrial transformation.

Exhibitors also met with potential local agents and distributors, through their interactions with local buyers, they gained acute insights into the local manufacturing landscape and current needs.

On their participation at Manufacturing Myanmar 2014, Dr. Hans-Peter Laubscher, Managing Director-Asia Pacific, TRUMPF Pte Ltd says, "TRUMPF joins Manufacturing Myanmar 2014 to create brand awareness and promote our technological capabilities in this new and upcoming market. We are also here to look for a business partner to work with in reaching out to the local manufacturing community. I am pleased with the quality of the visitors who came to Manufacturing Myanmar 2014 and we have received strong interest in our marking laser system TruMark 2130 as well as our laser cutting and punching technology. We will return again for the next edition of Manufacturing Myanmar."

For Myanmar, it is very important to cultivate a productive workforce to drive the economy forward. With skills development and the adoption of technologies in mind, local manufacturers were able to acquire knowledge on global best practices in operations and technology applications, and tap expertise readily shared by their international counterparts.

Commenting on his visit to Manufacturing Myanmar 2014, Mr. Win Naing, Engineer at Stream Engineering Group said, "It was definitely a fruitful trip as I got to see many manufacturing related machineries, technologies and products from so many foreign exhibitors all in one place. I will definitely come back again next year."

Sharing similar sentiments, Mr. Myint Oo of Royal Marine Engineering Group said, "The show was excellent and I was glad I made the trip here. I was able to see some of the products that I was in need of and was able to meet the sellers personally to find out more and negotiate a business deal. I hope that the next edition will feature more exhibitors and products that can meet our needs."

"Making an investment to automate operations with the use of machines and various supporting equipment is certainly a stride forward in unlocking Myanmar's manufacturing potential. Creating a platform for the sharing of knowledge and best practices, and presenting business opportunities for the local industry, and providing international companies a gateway into the country make up the essence of what Manufacturing Myanmar is all about," says Ms. Lindy Wee, Deputy Chief Executive of organiser Singapore Exhibition Services.

"We are heartened by the local community's positive response toward the event, and very honoured to play a part in the progression and prosperity of the country's budding manufacturing industries," she adds.
