North Sulawesi, Indonesia, Feb 17, 2015 - (ACN Newswire) - The Indian Consulate General Amarjeet Singh Takhi has offered free education scholarships in India to capable students and state officers of North Sulawesi.
The North Sulawesi Provincial Administration Secretary Jahja Rondonuwu noted that Takhi delivered his speech during a press conference, which was attended by North Sulawesi Governor Sinyo Sarundajang here on Monday.
According to Takhi, in order to be eligible for the scholarship, the participant should be able to converse in English. Takhi added that journalists can also participate in the program.
Governor Sarundajang further stated that the Indian government has also offered cooperation in various sectors. The country has also express interest to establish close relations with the province.
The governor also informed Consular Takhi that the province is developing infrastructure, including a seaport.
Sarundajang affirmed that cooperation in several potential areas can be established with India such as the development of the coconut derivative product industry, investment in fisheries, and sister-city cooperation between Manado and the other cities in India.
Indonesia and India have established diplomatic relations since March 1951.
Indonesia exports derivative coal products, crude palm oil, iron ore, rubber, and coconut oil to India.
Meanwhile, India exports hydrocarbon products, automotive and spare parts products, electrical devices, and agricultural commodities.
The total value of bilateral trade in 2013 was recorded at US$16.99 billion. (Antara)
