Mark Garvey appointed new Chief Executive Officer for M+W Group's Asia-Pacific region

Stuttgart, Germany, Apr 16, 2015 - (ACN Newswire) - Mark Garvey, 48, has been appointed Chief Executive Officer (CEO) for the Asia-Pacific (APAC) region of the global engineering and construction company M+W Group. Effective 1 May 2015 he will take over this role from Helmut Kurzboeck, who will pursue new opportunities outside M+W Group.

Garvey will be responsible for the complete APAC-business of M+W Group, with about 2,600 employees in 10 countries (Australia, China, India, Indonesia, Malaysia, Philippines, Singapore, Taiwan, Thailand, Vietnam). He was born in the United States and holds a Bachelor's degree from Drew University, Madison, New Jersey.

In the last 25 years Garvey was working with the engineering and construction company Foster Wheeler in various parts of the world, including 9 years of international assignments. In his latest assignment he was based in Houston, Texas, and responsible for the engineering and construction business of the company in the US and Latin America. Prior to that he spent 6 years in Shanghai as CEO of Foster Wheeler's Power Group Asia. There he was responsible for the power business across the Asia region, including manufacturing locations in China and Thailand. Further to assignments in the corporate center near New York City, his earlier experience also includes 3 years (1998 - 2001) in Singapore managing part of the Asian engineering and construction business.

Helmut Kurzboeck will leave M+W Group end of June 2015.
