NEC Exhibits Visual Field Support Framework Powered by Lotus Software

TOKYO, Jan 18, 2010 - (ACN Newswire) - NEC Corporation (NEC), a leading provider of innovative IT, network and communications products and solutions, today announced the presentation of its "Visual Field Support Framework," an exclusive set of new field support services and mobile servers (terminals) powered by IBM Lotus Connections software, at Lotusphere 2010 (Booth # 207-209), January 17 - 21 at Walt Disney World Swan and Dolphin Resort, Orlando, Florida, USA.

The Visual Field Support Framework is a Software-as-a-Service that helps customers build communities through collaboration, Web 2.0 infrastructure and the latest technologies. The framework utilizes mobile servers to provide field information through video, voice and sensor data to remotely locate office staff, who are also able to provide audio feedback to colleagues in the field.

Smooth communication between field and office locations contributes to the efficient resolution of a wide variety of business issues. NEC's VI-10 mobile server is a lightweight, easily operated server (terminal) that is ideal for field activity. Furthermore, the Visual Field Support Framework's services are compatible with any range of major mobile servers including Android platform.

The Visual Field Support Framework enables organizations to easily handle challenges in the field through the use of unified communications that diagnose issues, locate experts and track procedures in real-time. Lotus software enables the framework to provide search services that connect companies to the best individuals for solving field issues. The integration of Lotus Connections, for example, provides important feedback on services following the resolution of an issue.

Looking forward, NEC aims to continue developing services and solutions that enable businesses to operate efficiently and effectively, while meeting the highest customer standards. Visit NEC's booth at Lotusphere 2010 for a demonstration of the Visual Field Support Framework.
