Once a year, the summit unites YPO members with global innovators, entrepreneurs and business leaders to discuss the latest challenges and opportunities within the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) region. This year, attendees focused on the theme of "Reshuffling the Deck," examining the drivers behind change and the need for agility, adaptability and foresight as businesses confront an uncertain business environment.

"The YPO Insights ASEAN Summit stands apart from most business seminars and conferences as we have the opportunity to hear from world-renown speakers from around the world on how to navigate change overall strategy through focus and leadership," said YPO member Walter Blocker, CEO Vietnam Trade Alliance, Vietnam and Co-Chair for Insights ASEAN Summit 2016. "One of the best aspects of YPO membership is learning from leaders who are great storytellers and willing to share their insights and experiences."

YPO Southeast Asia Regional Chair Terry O'Connor, Group Chief Executive Officer of Courts Asia, kicked off the event by welcoming guests to Singapore, followed by the Summit keynote speaker, Michael Vaknin, U.S. Chief Markets Economist for J.P. Morgan Private Bank.

The two-day summit explored ASEAN issues, focusing on topics ranging from the role of economic communities and retaining talent in the region to environment sustainability and the disruptive power of technology.

"Everyone faces challenges in their businesses. The IAS speakers and panelists gave us real world perspectives and examples on how to overcome issues in our industry by explaining how other businesses have adapted to change," said YPO member Michael Zacka, President Asia, Tetra Park, and Co-Chair for Insights ASEAN Summit 2016.

Additional speakers at the summit included:

- Tan Sri Rafidah Aziz, Former Minister of International Trade and Industry, Government of Malaysia and Chairman, AirAsia X, Malaysia
- Ho Kwon Ping, Executive Chairman for Banyan Tree Holdings
- Frank Lavin, CEO and Founder for Export Now and Former United States Ambassador to the Republic of Singapore, Singapore
- Kirk Wagar, United States Ambassador to the Republic of Singapore
- Patrick Grove, Co-founder & Group CEO for Catcha Group
- Tan Sri Dr Mohd Munir Majid, Chairman ASEAN Business Advisory Council - Malaysia Chairman, CIMB ASEAN Research Institute

The event also featured keynotes and insights from more than 30 YPO member chief executives and entrepreneurs from across Asia including:

- Harjit Gill, Former CEO, ASEAN & Pacific, Philips
- Amar Zahid, President Greater Middle East and Africa, Tetra Park, UAE
- Rick Santos, Chairman, CEO and Founder, CBRE, Philippines
- Dr. Anish Shah, Group President (Strategy), Mahindra Group, India

Member CEOs and entrepreneurs imparted their insights from industries such as technology, real estate, retail, financial services and manufacturing, all serving to inspire and create passion for strengthening Asia.

"New business models, new competitors and disruptive ideas are transforming the market as we know it, all thanks to the power of technology and the amplifying effect of the mobile device phenomenon," said Dave West, Vice President and Chief Technology Officer of Cisco, during his keynote. "If legacy companies are not rethinking their strategies and redefining what their business should look like in this digital era, then they are most certainly being disrupted right now. And the fact is that by 2020, 40% of them won't exist anymore. For those aware of the risk - and immense opportunity - it's crucial to keep in mind that transforming a business is so much more than implementing digital initiatives. It is about outlining an all-new strategy that balances defines how the business will operate in this era to serve the digital consumer. Traditionally, ASEAN countries look at technology as an operations optimizer. That focus ought to shift to the customer."

"ASEAN is an amazingly rich and diverse region with exciting opportunities, and IAS has left us inspired to think even bigger," said Azran Osman Rani, CEO of iflix Malaysia and member of YPO Malaysia chapter. "The connections we made at the Summit help us realize the potential of our region and industry."
