Gulfstream Product Support Network Expands in Asia

Savannah, GA, June 11, 2010 - (ACN Newswire) - Gulfstream Product Support grew significantly in the past year, especially in Asia, which is among the fastest-growing business-aviation regions in the world. According to published reports, the Asian business-aviation market grew by approximately 15 percent in 2009. Currently, there are more than 600 business jets registered in that region.

"In Asia, the Gulfstream fleet has grown from 27 aircraft in 2001 to more than 110 today," said Mark Burns, president, Gulfstream Product Support, a 3,200-employee organization. "To support that tremendous growth, we have enhanced our regional support. In the last year, we've doubled our parts and materials inventory in Asia and added key personnel there. We are committed to our customers, and the people and parts we've added in Asia reflect that."

To support the fleet of more than 1,800 Gulfstream aircraft operating worldwide, the company has positioned $1.2 billion worth of spare parts and materials at 15 facilities around the world, including more than $48 million in inventory spread across three sites in Asia: Hong Kong, Beijing and Singapore.

Gulfstream's growing commitment to Asia also includes the establishment of a Beijing-based maintenance support team, a Hong Kong-based regional program director, an international distribution manager for parts and materials, and a team of two Hong Kong-based interior technicians.

Mark Thibault, the regional Gulfstream Product Support program director, is responsible for overseeing all Product Support efforts for Gulfstream aircraft fleet operators in Asia. Duties for the former chief operating officer for Hong Kong-based Metrojet include coordinating aircraft maintenance and support requirements for Gulfstream operators located in or traveling through Asia, and supervising the growth of the Gulfstream support network.

Veteran Gulfstream employee James Liang will manage inventory and oversee distribution in the region.

Moreover, Gulfstream appointed two new Asia-based field service representatives (FSRs) in the last year, Jenson Saw in Beijing and Kannan Kumar in Chennai, India. Gulfstream also has FSRs in Hong Kong (two), Singapore (two) and two others whose territory includes central Asia.

Gulfstream Product Support facilities in Asia include authorized warranty repair centers Jet Aviation Singapore and Metrojet, along with authorized warranty line-service centers Airworks India in Mumbai and Jamco Corp. in Sendai, Japan.
