Sixth Hong Kong International Printing & Packaging Fair Opens
Event Features New Zones for Green Solutions, Food and Beverages

HONG KONG, Apr 27, 2011 - (ACN Newswire) - The sixth edition of the Hong Kong International Printing and Packaging Fair opened today with more than 320 exhibitors on hand from eight countries and regions, up 23 per cent over last year's totals.

Exhibitors from the Chinese mainland, Germany, Hong Kong, the Philippines, Singapore, South Korea, Taiwan and Thailand are taking part in the fair, which runs until 30 April at AsiaWorld-Expo. The mainland's Xiamen Province and Thailand feature group pavilions.

Zones, Seminars and Workshops
Highlights include two new zones, Green Printing & Packaging Solutions and Food & Beverage Packaging Solutions. The zones reflect global market trends, catering to growing interest in environmentally friendly wrapping and improved food and beverage containers for consumable items.

They join established zones for Printing Services, Packaging Services, Printing & Packaging Equipment, Digital Printing Systems and Printing Consumables & Packaging Materials.

Seminars today spotlight successful branding through creative printing and packaging and green printing production, strategies and management.

Tomorrow's schedule includes a workshop on advanced pre-press and digital technology for publishing and marketing, and a seminar on G7 and Fogra PSO. Industry players Konica Minolta, Agfa Graphics and Taopix will discuss new digital solutions for printing and packaging on Friday.

The winning pieces of the Hong Kong Print Awards will be on display in Hall 6 throughout the fair period.

Global Printing Centre

The fair, organised by the Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC) and CIEC Exhibition Company (HK) Ltd, and co-organised by The Hong Kong Printers Association and Graphic Arts Association of Hong Kong, reinforces Hong Kong's role as an international printing centre.

More than 60 buying missions from 42 countries and regions are on hand for the event, which runs concurrently with the world's largest gift show, the HKTDC Hong Kong Gifts & Premium Fair, at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre. Free shuttle buses connect the fair locations during the events.

Hong Kong's exports of printed matter reached HK$2.5 billion (US$324 million) in the first two months of this year, up 10 per cent, year-on-year. Hong Kong's top five export markets are the United States, the United Kingdom, the mainland, Australia and Japan.

Exports of packaging material also increased, up 34 per cent, to HK$4.1 billion (US$529 million) in the first two months of 2011.
