Hong Kong Film Industry Gears Up for Cannes 2011
TDC Pavilion, Exhibits and Screenings at Marche du Film

HONG KONG, May 6, 2011 - (ACN Newswire) - Hong Kong filmmakers will screen their latest projects and exhibit industry talent at Marche du Film, the world's largest film market, which opens Wednesday with the concurrent 64th Festival de Cannes (Cannes Film Festival).

Six of the 17 Hong Kong companies attending the trade event will showcase their latest projects at a pavilion organised by the Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC). Last year the market set in the French Riviera attracted more than 500 exhibitors and 10,000 participants representing over 4,000 companies from 103 countries.

Hong Kong on the Riviera

The Hong Kong Pavilion will be located at stand B11-C12 of the event's Riviera section, and will include exhibits by All Rights Entertainment Ltd, Edko Films Ltd, Fortune Star Entertainment (HK) Ltd, Mega-Vision Pictures Ltd, Stars Union Skykee International Media Ltd and Universe Films Distribution Co Ltd.

Outside the pavilion, individual exhibits are being set up by another 11 Hong Kong companies including Celestial Pictures Ltd, Distribution Workshop, Easternlight Films, Emperor Motion Pictures, Filmko Entertainment Ltd, Fortissimo Films, Golden Network Asia Ltd, Media Asia Group, Mei Ah Entertainment Group Ltd, Pegasus Motion Pictures Distribution Ltd and We Distribution.

In addition, several Hong Kong films will be screened at the 11-20 May film market, including A Beautiful Life, Come Rain, Come Shine, Last Romance, Love for Life, My Kingdom, Naked Soldier, Punished and Rest on Your Shoulder.

The Hong Kong movie Wu Xia, directed by Peter Chan Ho-Sun and distributed by We Distribution, has been selected as one of the Out of Competition titles presented at Festival de Cannes and the gala premiere will be held on 13 May.

Hong Kong at the International Village

A Hong Kong business support centre will be set-up at stand 131 of the International Village. Open to all participants from Hong Kong as well as their accompanied guests, the centre offers free business facilities as well as a venue for meetings and media interviews.

To facilitate additional business exchange and networking, three "Dim Sum Hour" sessions will be held in the business support centre. Pre-registration is required for the sessions to be held 12:30pm - 2:30pm on 13, 14 and 15 May.

FILMART 2011's Record-Breaking Success

The Hong Kong Pavilion will also work on attracting industry players to the Hong Kong International Film and TV Market (FILMART). The most recent event held in March set new attendance records, with nearly 600 exhibitors from 30 countries and regions and more than 5,000 visitors from 54 countries and regions.
