HMA Announces Winners of the Asian Hospital Management Awards 2011

SINGAPORE, Sept 9, 2011 - (ACN Newswire) - Ten winners and 25 runners up won the coveted Asian Hospital Management Awards (AHMA) 2011 held September 8, 2011 at the Resorts World Convention Centre in Singapore. The celebration was the culmination of the Hospital Management Asia conference, attended by a record breaking 768 delegates from 25 countries and 222 organizations.

The Asian Hospital Management Awards recognizes and honors hospitals in Asia that carry out best practices in hospital management. Now in its tenth year, AHMA is the accepted hospital management awards program for the Asia Pacific region.

Awards are given to hospitals in the region that, in the opinion of the judges and advisers, have implemented or enhanced outstanding and innovative projects, programs, and best practices during the previous year. AHMA 2011 garnered 315 entries from 84 hospitals and 11 countries.

Proud recipient of the Grand Award is Institute of Mental Health (IMH). The IMH is the only hospital that won a Winner award or Excellence award in three of the nine categories. In addition, IMH also received a judge's nod in six out of nine categories, the most for any hospital.

The HMA 2011 Lifetime Achievement Award was conferred on Dr. Oon Chiew Seng, a living legend of our times. Dr. Oon served as Chairman, MOH Committee to Study Conditions of Nursing Service; Member, Singapore Family Planning and Population Board; and President, O&G Society several times. She has been the recipient of numerous accolades for her work and continues her philantrophic work to this day. Among her latest donations saw the setting up of the Oon Chiew Seng Fellowship in Medicine (Women's Health and Aging Science), which is dedicated to the research and teaching of Anti-Ageing Science in Women's Health and Dementia.
