Southampton, PA, USA, Apr 3, 2012 - (ACN Newswire) - Environmental Tectonics Corporation's ("ETC" or the "Company") Simulation Division, located in Orlando, FL, has contracted with Essex County College for the delivery of the Advanced Disaster Management Simulator ("ADMS") and three years of Total Support, which covers software, hardware and scenario updates. The virtual reality training system will be used at the Essex County College Police Academy ("ECCPA") to augment training in basic and continuing education courses, including Incident Command, fire scenes, traffic investigations, and other natural and man-made disaster conditions.
The ADMS(TM) system features ETC's Signature Simulation Technology and the new SmartModel(TM) library which enhances exercise development and creativity by allowing unlimited scenario capabilities within the incident locations. The chosen system is portable and will allow both in-residence training and use at off-site locations. The ADMS-Command US system is produced standard with 10 incident locations including a multi-purpose building with fire and car bomb, a warehouse fire and hostage, road traffic accident, hazmat tanker truck accident, fuel farm fire, port hazmat and fire, airport emergencies, and shopping mall IED and hostage.
Rocco Miscia, ECCPA Director, said, "The Essex County College Police Academy is proud to be the first agency in New Jersey to purchase the Advanced Disaster Management Simulator. We are eager to begin using this valuable training tool for preparing Essex County's first responders for the various scenarios they may face. We recognize the value of enhancing our readiness with the realistic exercises and situations that ADMS presents. Overall, ADMS will allow us to better prepare our police, fire, OEM, and EMS personnel for response and mitigation of potential adversities in a cost-effective environment, before they occur."
ADMS(TM) is a high-fidelity Virtual Reality Simulation Training Stage that houses multiple products including Incident Command training from technical to strategic level (ADMS-Command), driver training and vehicle operation (ADMS-ARFF and ADMS-Drive), and multiple level police coordination for crowd management and riot control (ADMS-Control). ETC's signature technology blends physics-based simulation, embedded artificial intelligence, accurate animations, photo-realistic graphics, ambient sounds, vehicle controls, and motion platforms to totally immerse trainees in the exercise. ADMS enables first responders and emergency managers to prepare at all levels of response in a safe, economical and environmentally-conscious way.
"The high-tech equipment we utilize at the Academy, such as the simulator, enhances the excellent emergency management training we offer and indirectly benefits all the residents of Essex County," said Charles Lovallo, Executive Dean for Continuing Education and West Essex Campus. "We are fortunate to partner with the County of Essex so that we can continue to play a major role in the training of public safety personnel and emergency responders in and around Essex County."
Marco van Wijngaarden, President of ETC Simulation, stated, "ADMS is considered the gold-standard in simulation training systems by emergency management training institutions worldwide. This contract with the Essex County College Police Academy illustrates that ADMS is a true multi-agency training solution. They are an exceptional training academy and integrating ADMS into their curriculum will no doubt benefit not only their program and trainees, but also most importantly, their community."
