"Think Global, Think Hong Kong" to Market Hong Kong Advantages |
HONG KONG, May 3, 2012 - (ACN Newswire) - "Think Global, Think Hong Kong" (TGTHK), the largest promotional campaign ever launched in Japan by the Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC), will take place in Tokyo and Osaka, 13-19 May. A delegation of more than 120 Hong Kong government officials and business leaders from 15 sectors will take part in the week-long programme, expected to attract more than 2,000 Japanese corporate leaders, government representatives, heads of small and medium-sized enterprises, services providers, academics and opinion leaders with a special interest in Asia.
Spotlight on Hong Kong
Hong Kong's role as Asia's services centre and gateway to China business opportunities will be the highlight of two major symposiums: in Tokyo, 15 May, and Osaka, 17 May. Tadashi Okamura, Chairman of the Japan Chamber of Commerce and Industry, and Industry Advisor to the Board, Toshiba Corporation, will present a keynote address at the Tokyo symposium. Shigetaka Sato, Chairman of the Osaka Chamber of Commerce, and Chairman of the Board, Keihan Electric Railway Co Ltd, will be among those delivering keynote addresses at the Osaka symposium.
Partnering with Hong Kong
A series of thematic sessions will also take place in both cities, offering participants marketing intelligence and practical information on how Japanese companies can work with Hong Kong to do business in Asia, especially the Chinese mainland. Topics will include selling consumer brands, creating and distributing digital content, exploring partnership opportunities in environmental and manufacturing technology, setting up business in the mainland's Pearl River Delta, legal advice for doing business on the mainland, and opportunities from Hong Kong's expanding renminbi business.
High-Profile Speakers
More than 80 prominent speakers from Hong Kong and Japan will take part in Think Global, Think Hong Kong. They include: Takehiko Nakao, Japan's Vice Minister of Finance for International Affairs, Ministry of Finance; Tadashi Okamura, Chairman, Japan Chamber of Commerce and Industry, and Industry Advisor to the Board, Toshiba Corporation; Norman TL Chan, Chief Executive of the Hong Kong Monetary Authority; Dr Jonathan Choi, Chairman of the Hong Kong-Japan Business Cooperation Committee; Song Zheng Huan, Chairman of the mainland's Goodbaby Group; Fang Fang, JP Morgan's Managing Director, Vice Chairman, Asia, and Chief Executive Officer, China, Investment Banking; and Anita Fung, Chief Executive Officer, Hong Kong, The Hongkong and Shanghai Banking Corporation Ltd.
Professional services providers from Hong Kong's corporate, accounting and legal sectors will offer free business consultation to Tokyo and Osaka symposium participants. Two HKTDC missions covering health food and technology, and two missions organised by the Hong Kong Cyberport Management Company Ltd and the Law Society of Hong Kong, will also attend the symposiums, presenting additional networking opportunities for Japanese companies.
Hong Kong Dinner in Tokyo
HKTDC Executive Director Fred Lam will host a Hong Kong Dinner in Tokyo, 15 May. More than 500 business and political leaders from Hong Kong and Japan are expected to attend the gala evening.
