YDC 2012 Winning Collections to Go on Display Next Month
Local Fashion Creations to be Available at Joyce Boutique

HONG KONG, June 22, 2012 - (ACN Newswire) - The winning collections of The Hong Kong Young Fashion Designers' Contest (YDC) 2012 will be on display, and available for sale, at Joyce Boutique's new Causeway Bay Lee Gardens shop, 9-18 July.

This year's YDC winning collections are:

Overall Winner & Party & Evening-Wear Group Winner: Mim Mak, "Diving-Dance"
Casual & Jeans-Wear Group Winner: Kenax Leung, "The Fear of Mr Alien"
Contemporary Day-Wear Group Winner: Tracey Cheung, "The Establishment Soul"

YDC winning collections was first made available at Joyce Boutique last year, and major items of the four winning collections were sold out within a week, underlining the quality and market potential of Hong Kong design.

"I like all three YDC winning collections, but my favourite is the Overall Winner, to which I also gave the highest score! It's an evening collection in black and yellow made from neoprene. The contrast in colours and image are very strong. It's also very on trend," said Michael Mok, Divisional Merchandise Manager, Joyce Boutique Ltd. "I believe it will sell well, especially among customers with edgier taste."

Organised by the Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC), YDC has been an incubator of the local fashion industry for more than 30 years. It also helps young designers showcase their creativity and realise their dreams. Beyond the prizes, YDC winners are rewarded with valuable experience and opportunities, all of which are beneficial to their career development.

Mim Mak, the Overall Winner of the YDC 2012, and a variety of the YDC finalists over the last three years, will stage 11 fashion collections in a special presentation, "Fashionally Collection #1," on the first day of the Hong Kong Fashion Week for Spring/Summer, 3-6 July. The HKTDC will also arrange business-matching sessions for the young designers during the trade fair.
