Dah Sing Life Organises "Pedal Forward to a Brighter Future Programme 2014"
A "Halloween Fest" great adventure designed to help youngster build self-esteem

HONG KONG, Oct 3, 2014 - (ACN Newswire) - Dah Sing Life Assurance Company Limited ("Dah Sing Life") has held the "Pedal Forward to a Brighter Future - Achieving Your Dreams - Ultimate Challenge 2014" ("the Programme") at Ocean Park Hong Kong last Sunday. The Programme aims to foster team spirit, self-confidence and courage in youth through a series of challenges and tasks which will guide the young participants in learning how to face adversity independently and positively, to overcome fear and solve problems. A total of 200 young members from the Hong Kong Federation of Youth Groups ("HKFYG") joined the programme. Ms. Mag Lam, brand ambassador of Dah Sing Life, along with more than 20 outstanding participants of Dah Sing Life's UFuture Elite Development Programme ("UFuture participants"), also took part in the event.

The Programme is organised into group tasks with the aim to enhance the communication skills, mutual trust and courage of the participants through carefully-designed games. As Halloween is approaching, Dah Sing Life specially chose Ocean Park as the venue for this event, as the Park's annual Halloween event, "Halloween Fest", complements the main objective of the Programme, which is to encourage participants to overcome their fear. The intense atmosphere in the Park created by "Halloween Fest" greatly increases the excitement level of the Programme.

Ms. Eleonore Chow, Chief Executive Officer of Dah Sing Life, commented, "Since Dah Sing Life initiated the 'Pedal Forward to a Brighter Future' activity in 2013, a series of programme activities have been launched to encourage local children and youngsters to challenge themselves and give play to their talents. This event marks the first 'Achieving Your Dreams - Ultimate Challenge' organised ' in collaboration with Ocean Park. With the ghost actors from "Halloween Fest"as programme instructors and other spooky elements of "Halloween Fest" integrating into the training programme, we hope to inspire the youngsters to pluck up their courage to overcome their psychological barriers while facing the fears from their studies, work or daily life in the future. This breakthrough programme not only offers educational value, it is also creative and stimulating. We are particularly gratified to see the event ended with fun and laughter. We hope the participants have the courage to reach for their dreams in the future, and not retreat because of fear or fear of failure, and thus strive to realise and pass on the 'Can Do Hong Kong Spirit'."

Ms Vicky Kwong, Unit-in-charge of HKFYG Jockey Club Hung Hom Youth S.P.O.T., said, "Youth S.P.O.T under the HKFYG actively develops and promotes three pillar services, including academic support, learning for self-enrichment and social experience. Apart from these services, we also gather the youngsters and cultivate their fighting spirit and sense of team spirit through music and various sports activities and competitions. Teenagers might feel frustrated when something bad happens in their studies, family or social life during their maturation. Through this Programme, we hope the young participants can learn to accept challenges when they encounter adversity. We would like to thank Dah Sing Life for their support and contribution to our next generation."

Ms. Suzanne Gendron, Executive Director, Zoological Operations and Education of Ocean Park Hong Kong said, "We are delighted to be the training partner of Dah Sing Life's 'Pedal Forward to a Brighter Future Programme 2014'! Through our signature team building programme - the 'Ultimate Survival', we hope for our young participants to discover their strengths and potential. Understanding that youngsters are always seeking excitement, we have incorporated some Halloween elements into our challenges to make it a fun and memorable experience for them. We anticipate that through Dah Sing Life's campaign and Ocean Park's training programme, our young participants can take home with them the skills and environmental messages learnt from this valuable opportunity."

Ms. Mag Lam, brand ambassador of Dah Sing Life, said after the event, "The challenge has been 'thrilling' and pleasant! 'Ghosts' in dreadful costumes appear and participate in each 'adventure'. There is even a session of exploration in the dark. The 'ghosts' assisted the participants to complete the tasks but also gave them quite a scare when it was least expected. This certainly brought about thrilling excitement to the whole event and kept the participants aroused. I feel happy for and proud of these youngsters who have demonstrated their courage and worked as a team to complete every challenge despite the disturbance of the 'monsters' and the darkness. The activity has reminded me that if I just stay focused on everything I do, I can successfully face every challenge in my life. I sincerely wish that the participants can both enjoy this experience and personally benefit from it."

At the closing ceremony, Ms. Lam has shared her experience in overcoming challenges in the past and fulfilled her dream to become a singer. She then proceeded to sing "I Wanna Believe," Dah Sing Life's second "Can Do Hong Kong Spirit" theme song to encourage everyone to pursue their dreams. The winning team was awarded prizes and all participants were presented with a certificate to acknowledge their successful completion of "Achieving Your Dreams - Ultimate Challenge 2014".
